Maternity Clothes-Plus Sizes

If you are a plus size woman, you are definetely not alone. You should not feel inferior because you are not the perfect weight. Using different design principles, you can look stylish and attractive in the right plus size clothing.

Lines or Stripes

When selecting stripes in a print, the plus size woman should always opt for the vertical stripes (going up and down) as opposed to the horizontal stripes (goes across).

When the seams or edges of clothing are vertical, the eye will follow that edge, up and down, and the body will visually appear slimmer.

Garments that have long, vertical lines are the most slimming.

If you have a 2-piece garment, for example, adding a skirt to a short blouse ending at the hip, you are introducing a horizontal line where the top ends. This look is very unflattering, as the eyes follow the line "around" the body, accentuating the width of the hips.  This makes the plus size woman look even bigger.

Color

There are many design principles to "trick" the eye into making the plus size woman look slimmer. The most commonly kown design trick is wearing the color black. Wearing dark colors in general are slimming as dark colors are receding and brights advancing (standing out).

Prints or Solids?

In wearing regular or maternity clothes in plus sizes, if you don't want to wear solid dark colored clothing, then another slimming look is to wear prints. The prints may be colorful and bright, unlike the solid colors, but they shouldn't be too large. For instance, you don't want a print to consist of 6" round circles. Small, busy prints, abstract swirls or geometric (linear) designs service to distract the eye away from the body and onto the busy-ness of the print.

Pregabelli's plus size maternity swim wear utilizes this design principle by selecting prints that are attractive, trendy and focus the eye on the print and not on the body. We believe that beautiful prints are better in a bathing suit than dark solids, expecially in the maternity one piece swim wear design, where the bathing suit hugs the body.

Diagonal Lines

Diagonal lines (ones that are slanted) are a great look, as they create visual movement, virtually slicing the body in parts. This creates a slimming effect.

Pregabelli's Design Tricks

All of the above design tricks are used in our plus size maternity swim wear to create a garment that makes you look slimmer. Whether it be regular sized maternity clothes or plus sizes, we use the same principles - so that all our designs are going to make you look slimmer.

With our 2-pieced bathing suits, the front is cut long, so it will cover your belly when you are 9 months pregnant, but also is utilizing the vertical line principle to make you look slimmer.

We also use small, swirling or geometric prints in rich, bright colors that attract attention to the print and detract attention from the size of the body.

Extras

In addition to the features above to make you look slimmer, our suits have soft, wide ties that do not cut into your skin. You can adjust them to your growing body and re-adjust them after birth to continue to wear the suit.

Our plus size maternity swim wear is made for comfort, for longevity (so it lasts you your entire pregnancy), and for beauty (as it makes you look slimmer). What more could you ask for?
